Lafayette Parish Check List

Lafayette parish contains a diversity of habitats ranging from cypress bottomlands to prairie terrace, with the western portion of the parish being largely agricultural, farmed in rice and crawfish. It is partially bordered by Bayou Queue de Tortue and Bayou Vermilion, both of which still hold thick woodlands. The combination of diverse habitats and undeveloped land results in good bird numbers.
